Where to Find the Best Pizza in Napoli

Find the best pizza in Naplse

This summer, we wanted to spend quality time in Napoli and find the best pizza, pastries, and espresso taste that we could!

Before arriving, I gathered recommendations from local experts including Ilaria, wife of Una Pizza Napolitana’s pizzaiolo Anthony Mangieri, and Nicola Radano, of the Neapolitan clothing brand Spacca Neapolis. We’ve always found that the best recommendations come from locals.

The streets of Napoli

Close to the Train Station

The classical Neopolitan pizzerias include pizzerias like Sorbillo and Da Michele. Both of these restaurants have multiple locations outside of Italy (London, New York City, and Los Angeles) and draw long lines. Since Da Michele is popular and close to the train station, we thought we’d give it a chance. Unfortunately, the pizza, service, and mobs of tourists were disappointing and the experience was in our opinion not worth the time.

If you’re stopping in Napoli on the way to the magical Amalfi Coast and looking for a quick pizza lunch close to the train station, go to Trianon Pizzeria. It’s just a few steps away from Da Michele, and their pizza is made with more care. You’ll likely be seated quickly, plus you’ll have great service and more locals.

Sorbillo – Chiaia Shopping District

If you’re looking to shop, there are several well-recommended local pizzerias in the Chiaia district. The original and popular Sorbillo had a huge line of tourists spanning more than one block, but if you’d like to try their pizza in a less touristy location, go to the pizzeria on Via Partenope by the water.

Pizzeria Vincenzo Capuano

Just around the corner from Sorbillo is Pizzeria Vincenzo Capuano. Vincenzo makes a pizza with a fluffy crust and also has a second location in Pompeii. They also offer fried pizza and street food appetizers like croquettes and fried bucatini. (see their pizza photo at the top of the article)

Francesco e Salvatore Salvo

This pizzeria has a super sleek and simple modern interior. It’s located just next to E Marinelli. Even other pizzaioloss recommended it while we were in Napoli, but we got there too late to taste their pizza. It’s on our list for our next trip.

50 Kaló

Pizza at 50 Kal in Naples Italy

We walked into 50 Kaló and it was full of Italians, and only offering an Italian menu (a good sign). It was busy but the pizzas came out in only a few minutes, as they should. Be sure to try one of our favorite pizzas, the diavola topped with strips of burrata and spicy sausage. It’s not a traditional diavola pizza but it’s fantastic!

Concettina ai Tre Santi – Sanità District

Our overall favorite experience and pizza came from Pizzeria Concettina ai Tre Santi. They have a pizzeria and restaurant that serves a full menu including pizza. The flavors, the service, the wine, the pizza was the best. We recommend doing the tasting menu. There’s a modern and classic, but we asked if they could do a mix of both. You typically need four people and a reservation to do a tasting menu, so make sure you call ahead. Click here to learn more.
