The Museum of Ice Cream San Francisco is now open! We were given a sneak peak into the world of ice cream (and sprinkles of course) earlier this week at a press event. The museum is located in a 108-year-old historic bank in San Francisco’s Union Square, which is quite the contrast to the modern designs in each of the eleven rooms concluding with the Design within Reach lounge.

The Museum of Ice Cream San Francisco is supporting some of the best local California creameries, including Bi-Rite, Salt & Straw, and CREAM. Currently, they are serving an exclusive flavor from Bi-Rite Creamery. Visitors can also try My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream, Pop Rocks, and glitter-sprayed cherry-flavored cotton candy.

Our favorite ice cream was the soft serve made with “unicorn milk.” According to founder, Maryellis Bunn, they are using buffalo milk from Double8Dairy in Sonoma.

Don’t forget about the famous Sprinkle Pool – filled with over one hundred million custom designed sprinkles. They’re not edible, but they do make for super-cute photos. If you have kids, this would be the perfect place to take them. It’s colorful and fun, with ice cream and candy around every corner. If you’re dairy-free, don’t worry, there are plenty of other sweets to enjoy.

Tickets are currently open to the public for purchase, that is until the sell out. Get a full video tour here!
