Breakfast at Villa la Massa was spectacular, so we decided to check out their restaurant, Il Verrocchio for dinner. The patio is beautiful and charming in the morning, but at night the entire space takes on a fine dining vibe. We had an amazing multi-course dinner paired with with perfect regional wines.
A favorite dish of ours was the fava bean salad. It was so fresh, and truly farm-to-table. We were able to walk the gardens and see the fava beans growing down by the Arno river, just at the edge of the property. We love that Italian restaurants like Il Verrocchio focus on fresh and seasonal ingredients. They make everything even more special.
We had spent the day in wine country, so our server recommended this tender fillet of beef (or Filetto di Manzo), cooked to perfection and topped with a wine reduction sauce made of Chianti Classico and aromatic herbs.
